My Own Philosophy

Based on my own life experiences...

I have a belief system that is probably unique to some, probably familiar to others. I believe that all religions have some semblance of the truth in them in various aspects.

It is my belief that what some call God, Deity, Ether, Gia or any other host of different terms, is all one, all encompassing, all consuming, all being. All the above is not wrong, nor is it all correct. It is energy if you will. It IS all things. It is IN all things living to include humanity, animals, plants, trees, and oceans. It is from where all things issue. It is where all things retire to. It simply is. Swirling and churning among us at all times.

I believe that Human beings, at some point, go through a seeking process. Seeking out what we are, where we came from, why we are here, and where do we go when we die?". "It all can't be in vain so what is the reason for all this that is at hand?" I believe that the human mind is very much limited in it's comprehension of the real reality. Therefore humanity attempts to fit the reality into certain molds or shapes that are more easily understood. There are several "templates" floating around and being used today. Christianity is one and probably one of the more popular given it's humanistic perspectives and approach to religion and God. Wicca is one, Shamanism is one, Buddhism is one, New Agers and there are many, many more born each and every day as the minds of humankind struggle and grapple with what we are capable of comprehending and understanding. It is the human applications of these templates that seem to show the greatest propensity for abuses and failures for the real reality cannot be manipulated or changed. It just is what it is. Understood or misunderstood.

The only thing separating us, one from another, is the garment of earthly life. That may be a tree, a flower, a human body, an animal body or whatever else. Remove the cloak given to us, in this life and we are once again, reunited with what we all issue from. The "Energy". With this cloak of life as we now know it, comes a singularity. We are single from others in our thoughts, intentions, understandings, feelings and in all else to what we endeavor.

Humankind applies that singularity to the templates that we attempt to fit the real reality into. Religions. Such as is the case in the naming of dieties. There are so many names given to them as if they are single entities floating around up in the sky with a given set or area of responsibility. Singular thinking and singular concepts are the very reason that most of the templates are inherently flawed. There is no multiple singularities in the Energy the way we have it on earth given the billions of single minded individuals. All is one and one is all. You, me and all our brethren to include plants and animals.

Heaven as some might call it, has been described as "You are given all the answers to all your questions. You will be reunited with all your loved ones passed. You will be in eternal peace.", etc, etc. That is true in some ways. We are reunited with loved ones passed. It just may not be that we recognize them as a single entity. But they are there because the energy that filled the cloths of humanity that they once wore, is gone and they have returned to the energy, just as we do when our human bodies die. Are we at peace? Remove humankind complications of life as we know it and the worries that accompany it, and I'd say yes. Peace at least in the way we understand it when we think of it in the singular manner in which we humans do.

We bring back to the energy, all that we learned. All that we experienced. All that we loved as well as all that we despised. Now being a part of that energy, we then become one with it again, and one with all the rest of the energy that had at one time been in earthly form. Is that what they mean by being reunited with loved ones passed? Is that what they mean when they say we will have the answers to all our questions? Maybe. We won't "really" know until we shed the skins we all wear and return to it ourselves.

To touch upon reincarnation, it is my thought, that it is the case in a way. In the way that, when new life comes into being, a small part of energy is needed for that. That energy has been here before. Think of it as a rainfall and the clouds above are the "Energy" of which I speak. There are lakes, puddles, pools and oceans here on earth. That could be thought of as humankind. Water from the sources evaporates (passes away) and returns to the cloud (energy) until it rains again. When it rains, the water falls down in many, many drops. Now take one drop of rain. Where did that water come from? Did it come from the same puddle that it is falling into now? Did it come from an ocean? A lake? More likely, it is a mixture of all those as once it evaporated, it returned to the cloud and mixed with all the others. When it rains down again, it will bring with it, a small bit from the ocean, the puddle, the pool and the lake. Apply that to energy that fills the human body, and you now have my thoughts on where "reincarnation" applies in the grand scheme of things. It is the humankind singularity of thought that implies we are each our own soul and that the soul comes back repeatedly. I believe that my energy has been may things before. Maybe I have a bit of cat, dog, snake, cow, human, plant energy all in me all at once in varying quantities. Not that my soul has necessarily been a cat in one life, a dog in the next and so on. It is a raindrop of energy that has been all things before, many times over. This process happens repeatedly. The difference is, that the energy is not necessarily hovering above our heads. It is with us everywhere and all the time.

Do we worship it? Not literally. Do we praise it? Not literally. We acknowledge it and we celebrate it in the way that we appreciate ALL forms of life. In the way that we seek not to harm each other or other living things. What is here on earth now, we will all become a part of when we die and is a part of what will issue again at some future time. What we are here, is what gets returned at some point. Ask yourself what you want the energy that gave us life to be about? We want it to be good and positive. The experiences you have today and that you cause others to have today, will be a small part of the raindrop providing life to some other human or animal at some point. A part of you WILL live again. Endeavor for that to be positive. There is more at stake here than your own single minded comfort and happiness.

Now let's switch gears

There are individuals in the universe that through whatever means they achieved it, are much more informed or "enlightened" as some would say, than others. I believe that Aleister Crowley was one such individual. Granted, he was not the most positive individual, he still knew what he was talking about. There are ways that one can establish a contact with that energy. After all, there is a certain amount of it that gives us each the life force we have. It is energy and is only defined by the manner in which we as humans choose to employ it. Be it for the positive, or as some might say, the negative. He chose for a time to access a greater quantity of that energy via tantric practices among other methods. It was his belief as it is mine, that energy can be directed if it can be accessed. How that is achieved is as varying in manners as are human beings. There is no correct or incorrect way. There are only ways that work, and ways that fail and each may vary per the given individual.

Aleister Crowley said "Magick is the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will". He also believed as is quoted from Donald Tyson's book on Ritual Magick when speaking of Crowley "He understood the true will to be the intention that is in harmony with the essential nature of the individual. Since the individual is a microcosm of the Universe, true will is in harmony with natural law. No man at war with himself can effectively undertake magical acts regardless of his desire, because his intention is not supported by his true will. Crowley believed that most persons are in perpetual strife with their essential natures and that this internal division limits their ability to work magic."

The working of magic by my definition, is directing energy. A persons essential nature unfortunately is not always positive by our own definition. That it is not positive by our definition does not inhibit the individuals effectiveness in directing the energy. If you can recognize and accept your essential nature for what it is, it IS an empowering experience to say the least. But this isn't intended to be a how-to on practicing magick. If you are interested in that, pick up a book by Donald Tyson. He is an OUTSTANDING and EXCELLENT author.

When a Wiccan speaks about the "Law of Three" it is referencing accountability. The life you live and the manner that you live in, can and will come back to you in some form or fashion. I believe that the Law of Three is a bit overstated. It isn't necessarily that "Eye for an Eye" concept that the Christians speak of either. It means that you are accountable for what you do. The energy doesnt have the conscience and intellect for the Law of Three or Eye for an Eye, to be so. Like I said, it is energy and is only defined by the manner in which we as humans choose to employ it. Given that the energy is what makes us live and breath, we need to take accountability for what we do with it. It will be here again in some form.

Now lets talk about "Time". The energy knows no time. It is all in a millisecond and it is all in a million years. Time is human measurement and is one of the most incomprehensible aspects. A part of who you are may very well have been, in small part, here on earth 1000 years from now not yet in existence the way we know it. But that's a whole other story.

There is another term coined from time to time which is "As above, so below". That term is used frequently when speaking of working magic, aka, directing energy. People also believe that when we attempt to direct energy or work magic, that we send out, or release energy that has been effected by the sender. That effected energy then, in their minds, "goes up to the unmanifest to be manifest at another time" be it in the future in our lifetime preferably. "As above, so below". That concept is also used in large part in the meditations of single individuals. It is my belief that some contact or communion with the energy must still take place. And in some instances it does indeed do just that. But one MUST recognize that energy as being that from which all things issue.
Now lets apply that concept to groups of individuals. Such is the case in rites and rituals done in covens of witches, as well as in Christian churches although the churches will vehemently deny this. It is thought by many of all schools of thought that where people gather, there are larger quantities of energy. This is true. It is also taught in church as well. It is why they all gather and pray for single causes. They themselves believe that it is more effective and that for some reason, that which they call God, pays more attention to 2 or more than 1. In that aspect of the chosen templates of reality, they are both accurate. Just using different templates. I also believe that even though the underlying concept of both is accurate, there is also a huge difference. That difference I can only highlight by commenting on that "Prayer" is passively asking, while ritual magic is actively participating.

These paragraphs that you have just read, only summarize my philosophy on life and religion. It really is complicated and is difficult to articulate in any form of human language. Maybe someday I myself will be enlightened sufficiently to be able to accomplish that end. Until then, you have my writings.
